January Beer News

January Beer News

We will be closing at 6pm on Tuesday January 22nd, for a staff meeting.

2018 was an incredible year for us at Lawson’s Finest Liquids and we have all of our wonderful fans to thank for being a part of it! We are so excited to offer the ultimate Lawson’s Finest experience and finally have a destination to visit. We look forward to seeing both new and old faces enjoying our brewery, taproom and retail store throughout 2019!

December was a great month for beer! We officially released our new brew, Scrag Mountain Pils which was inspired by the traditional Czech Pilsner style and has been a major hit! Our house lager is a tribute to the source of Waitsfield’s town water and the aquifer deep beneath Scrag Mountain.

In addition, our Belgian style ale, App Gap Saison made its debut in cans! This ale was introduced on the draft list in our taproom shortly after we opened and now you’re able to bring some home from our retail store!

Thank you for continuing to love and appreciate Sip of Sunshine just as much as we do! We’re closing out 2018 with Sip of Sunshine listed as the fifth most popular beer on Beer Menus!

Charitable Giving Program

For the first half of December, our charitable giving program donated to the Mad River Valley Ambulance and due to our guests generosity they were able to use the funds for their new rig! Mad River Ambulance has operated solely on community donations and their equipment and operational costs run high.

During the second half of December, donations were awarded to the Green Mountain Club in loving memory of our employee Andrew Black.

Thank you from all of us at Lawson’s Finest Liquids for visiting our brewery, taproom and retail store the month of December and contributing to our charitable giving program!

During the month of January we will be donating to Washington County Mental Health Services and Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports. We have chosen the Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports for the second half of January to help raise money for their new facility they will be building in the Spring of 2019 at Sugarbush! Their 4th Annual Snow Ball which will be held on February 7th is another way for the community to contribute to their new facility.

Taproom Treats!
Our Apple Crisp, Beer Cheese and Vegetarian Chili are the most recent and delightful additions to our taproom menu. Carefully crafted in-house, these snacks are packed with flavor and compliment the other offerings on our menu. On your next trip in, give these treats a try!

While you’re visiting be sure to check out our retail store! Just arrived is our new custom-made Lawson’s Finest Pom Beanie and it is both comfy and stylish. If you are unable to make the trip to Waitsfield they are also available to order online!

Join us in the taproom Monday, January 7th from 5-7pm for a specialty cask and live music from Amerikana Blue! This cask features our rich and complex Fayston Maple Imperial Stout infused with coffee beans from our friends at Carrier Roasting with an extra dose of maple syrup to prime the cask! It’ll be an evening you won’t want to miss!

Join brewer and naturalist Sean Lawson on Saturday, January 19th for a 1-hour full moon snowshoe followed by a buffet local-vore dinner paired with a cash bar of Lawson’s Finest brew. $59 includes snowshoe, dinner and one beer. Snowshoe rental $5 additional. Advanced registration required.

Saturday, January 26th join Lawson’s Finest Brand Ambassadors at the Beveridge Craft Beer Fest. The event brings together some of the finest craft breweries to pour their tasty brews on the ice of Lake Winnipesaukee!

We have two events coming up in February that you’ll want to get tickets before they sell out!

Thursday, February 14th we will be returning for another year hosting a Beer Dinner at Allyn’s Lodge at Sugarbush. Ride the Cabin Cat or skin to the lodge and enjoy a fresh meal coupled with local beers from Lawson’s Finest Liquids. Following the dinner, guests have the option to ski down under the moonlight taking in the commanding views, or ride in the cat back to the base. Find tickets here!

Friday, February 15th we will be joining Stratton Mountain for a Pairing Dinner. Enjoy a four course meal created by Stratton’s team of chef’s inspired by four beer offerings. Get the inside scoop on the delicious meal from the Stratton chef, and details on the brews from a Lawson’s Finest brewery expert!

Thank you to all who have filled our establishment with laughter and good times; we are looking forward to so many more.

We are so honored to announce that we are a recipient of the Brewbound Rising Star Award! Sean Lawson traveled to sunny Santa Monica, CA for the Brewbound LIVE conference to accept the award.

The Brewbound Awards acknowledge breweries for their execution of various business and philanthropic initiatives. As the craft beer world grows more competitive, and as more breweries open their doors, Brewbound has selected five rising stars from around the country who demonstrated a unique ability to thrive in a challenging climate and emerged as players to watch in the coming years. We are so thankful to be recognized alongside such a great group of breweries.

Congratulations to our fellow rising stars – Tree House Brewing, New Realm Brewing, Braxton Brewing Company and Fort Point Beer Company!

At our taproom we employ a “no tip” model as we have chosen to pay our staff generous living wages and benefits. There is no tip obligation when guests come to the taproom. However, if guests choose to leave a gratuity, 100% will be donated to local charitable endeavors. We are so proud to have been able to donate to the Mad River Valley Food Shelf as our first recipient!

During the month of November our charitable donations have been given to the Mad River Valley Community Fund, which assists local families with housing, heat, transportation and other critical needs that may not be provided through various social service organizations; and also the Mad River Valley Senior Center, which provides activities and quality food for seniors including the Meals on Wheels program. Thank you to all of our guests who have contributed to our charitable giving program. Your kindness and contributions will go far!

We’d like to introduce you to Sugarhouse IPA! This is a special brew as it was inspired by the first recipe crafted in 2008 at our home-based nanobrewery in Warren, VT. This hop-forward American IPA celebrates the “Sugarhouse Brewery” that is now our wizard’s workshop for experiments and taproom-only specials. Since the opening of our new Waitsfield taproom and retail store this IPA has been a hit!

Our first original recipe to come out of our Waitsfield, VT brewery is officially released! Our golden ale, Above the Clouds is crisp, clear and an approachable light bodied brew. It features notes of straw and fresh grain along with a subtle citrusy hop aroma. You can find it on draft in our taproom and freshly packaged in our retail store.
