Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

DEI Committee

At Lawson’s Finest Liquids, we believe that great beer is best enjoyed in an environment where everyone feels welcome. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is a group of passionate employee volunteers who work together to cultivate a diverse workplace, ensure equity for our staff and guests, and foster a culture of education and understanding.

Women and Non-Binary Association (WNBA)

Our Women and Non-Binary Association is an employee resource group that empowers our women and non-binary team members through connection, education, and support. According to our most recent Impact Report, 49 percent of our team identify as women, and 42 percent of leadership roles at the company are held by women or non-binary staff.

This group leads initiatives like Powerhouse Pale Ale, brewed to support the Vermont Women’s Fund, reflecting our commitment to gender equity and advancing women’s leadership across Vermont.

Each year on International Women’s Day, we host a community celebration at our Taproom. On March 9, 2025, “The Power of Women in Leadership” panel featured CEO Adeline Druart, keynote Emily Bush from the Vermont Women’s Fund, and female business leaders from across Vermont as panelists, including Sas Stewart, Libby Parent, Sascha Mayer, and Karen Colberg. The event concluded with the debut of Powerhouse Pale Ale and an informal networking reception.

Outright Vermont

We are proud to support Outright Vermont, a nonprofit creating safe and inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ youth.

In 2021 we began an ongoing merchandise initiative in support of Outright Vermont’s work. Since the start of this initiative, we are proud to have donated $18,431.36 to Outright Vermont supporting their programs providing advocacy, connection, and empowerment for young LGBTQ+ Vermonters.

Change in the Air

Each year, we partner with the Change in the Air Foundation in Connecticut through our Good Brews for a Cause program. Together, we celebrate diversity in craft beer and support initiatives that create pathways for underrepresented BIPOC voices across the industry. From our annual Change in the Air Pale Ale release to volunteering at the festival and CITA Park events, we are proud to help amplify this growing community of brewers and changemakers.

Lawson's Deaf Glow IPA cans

Deaf Glow

In 2024 and 2025, our Good Brews for a Cause partnered with Deaf Night Out and created Deaf Glow IPA in support of the Vermont Association of the Deaf’s Yolande Henry Community Foundation which funds interpretive services and accessibility programs not covered under the ADA.

Each September, during Deaf Awareness Month, we host a Deaf Glow IPA release party in collaboration with Deaf Night Out, including a public ASL class. Deaf Glow IPA is the first beer to feature American Sign Language on the can, in addition to a lantern which symbolizes the importance of light for communication in the dark.

We also collaborate with Deaf Night Out to create ASL video content for our customers and provide regular ASL trainings for our staff members

DEI and Giving

At Lawson’s Finest, we view all of our giving decisions through the lens of DEI. We do this through a specific question on all of our giving application and request forms inviting organizations to share with us any DEI connection they may have as it relates to their mission, population served, programs, and or the identity of their organizational leadership. We also place specific value on expressed DEI connections through awarding points on our scoring rubrics used to make giving decisions. From 2018 – 2026, 62% of our Sunshine Fund recipient organizations have a DEI connection.
