Virtual Cranko de Mayo 2021

The Mad River Riders and Lawson’s Finest Liquids are proud to present this year’s virtual Cranko de Mayo, our season kickoff mountain bike eventRegistration opens on Cinco de Mayo and the event runs through fin de Mayo (May 5th to 31st). You can choose from two courses. The Scragarita Route is a 14.2 mile single track tour with 2400 vertical feet of climbing. The más difícil Knockout Blonde is gnarlier and 16.6 miles with even more elevation gain. (It’s better that you don’t know the exact number.)

In order to win prizes, you must register at madriverridrers.org and join the Lawson’s Finest Liquids Strava Club. Keep up to date by following @MadRiverRiders and @LawsonsFinest on Instagram. All proceeds go to building more trails.  

Prizes include downhill lift tickets to Sugarbush, hats from Skida + Mad River Riders, entry tickets to the Rooted VT gravel ride and plenty of Lawson’s Finest merch.  

Friends don’t let friends ride muddy trails! Please check trailforks.comtrailhub.org, or trailfinder.info for conditions before riding. Riding on closed trails is muy malvada! 

Compete in these categories from May 5th – May 31st for 8 ways to win.

  1. Most laps – female – Knockout Blonde course (she/her/they/them) – Most laps in a month
    Prize: 2-downhill Sugarbush tickets and Lawson’s Finest swag filled backpack 
  2. Most laps – male – Knockout Blonde course (he/him/they/them) – Most laps in a month
    Prize: downhill Sugarbush tickets and a Lawson’s Finest swag filled backpack
  3. Most laps – female – Scragarita course (she/her/they/them) – Most laps in a month
    Prize: Skida/Mad River Riders hat and a Lawson’s Finest swag filled backpack
  4. Most laps – male – Scragarita course (he/him/they/them) – Most laps in a month
    Prize: Skida/Mad River Riders hat and a Lawson’s Finest swag filled backpack
  5.  Tickets to Rooted VT! You must complete both routes at least once throughout the month. 2 winners will be drawn at random on June 1st. One male/he/him/they/them winner and one female/she/her/they/them winner. One Scragarita lap = 1 entry. One Knockout Blonde lap = 2 entries.

  6. Photo contest – Most creative photo from your ride wins. Use #crankodemayo and tag @MadRiverRiders and @LawsonsFinest.
    Prize: Yellow soft Lawson’s Finest cooler, a Mad River Riders t-shirt and a mug
  7. Video contest – Most creative video from your ride wins. Use #crankodemayo and tag @MadRiverRiders and @LawsonsFinest.

  8. Scavenger Hunt – Find and photograph as many of these notable features on the route as you can. Use #crankodemayo and tag @MadRiverRiders and @LawsonsFinest.  
    • Chef’s Table – near the bottom of Revolution, drop it if you can 
    • Stone wall on GS – you’ll know it when you see it 
    • Sugarbush view from Powerline – When Ridgie crosses the powerline, you get a nice view of Lincoln Peak. 
    • Big boulder on Enchanted Forest – On the right, when climbing, just before the intersection with Evolution, a A favorite for kids to climb on 
    • Evolution bridge – Midway on the upper part of evolution 
    • The pond at Eurich Pond – pretty self-explanatory 
    • High Plum bridge – a hill hugging chutzpah tester right at the start of the trail  

Prize2-downhill lift tickets to Sugarbush, a Mad River Riders’ branded Tee and a handcrafted mug. 

 

The first 40 registrants will get a Lawson’s Finest can cooler koozie and a Mad River Riders hat to pick up at the taproom before June 1st
