A fresh bottle of Kiwi DIPA
Ahhhhhhhhh, delish!

Happy New Year all! Glad to have the frenetic holiday season behind us now and I am looking forward to a great ski season and some new brews in the making!

Here’s what’s happening at Lawson’s Finest Liquids these days:

Paradise Pale Ale (4.9% abv) – our aggressively hopped pale ale might be considered an IPA by some, but with less than 5% alcohol, we felt the pale moniker was a bit more fitting….it has an amazing bouquet of Chinook, Amarillo, Centennial, and Columbus to accompany a wicked bite! Just like one of my favorite trails at Mad River Glen. Look for this beer on tap all the time in the Stark’s Pub at MRG and in bottles every few weeks through January. Next bottle delivery on 1/17-18, as well as at the Montpelier Farmer’s Market on 1/19.

Red Spruce Bitter (4.5% abv) – A once-a-year beer brewed for the holidays! Styled after an English ESB, with a Vermont twist of fresh red spruce sprigs and a just a hint of cinnamon! On tap now at many of our draft locations and arriving to stores in bottles on 1/10-11. Bottles at the Montpelier Farmer’s Market on 1/19.

Kiwi Double IPA (8.1% abv) – Brewed with a massive charge of Nelson Sauvin and Pacific Jade hops from New Zealand. This beer has been occupying our DIPA spot in the rotation for a couple of months…look for the last batch for a while (limited hop availability) in late January.

Chinooker’d IPA (6.9% abv) – Look for one of my old standards and original recipes to make occasional appearances throughout 2013. Going on draft to many locations the weekend of 1/11 and in bottles at the Montpelier Farmer’s Market on 1/19.

Maple Nipple Ale (8.0% abv) – Lawson’s specialty maple ale will be offered on draft the weekend of 1/18 and in bottles at the Montpelier Farmer’s Market on 1/19. A maple bourbon barrel version of this beer is aging on oak right now! Look for it in bottles in late spring 2013. That’s right, maple bourbon (a bourbon blended with 25% maple syrup by Saxton’s River Distillery and aged in american oak barrels) + maple nipple = one sticky beer!

Fayston Maple Imperial Stout (10.1% abv) – A hearty winter favorite will return in February 2013.

And Finally…

Double Sunshine IPA (8.0% abv) – Yes, yes….I know many of you are eagerly awaiting the return of this beer. I am waiting until the 2012 crop of hops is fully available before brewing this beer again to ensure that the next glass of Double Sunshine you have is the brightest, juiciest, and freshest that it can possibly be. The new crop of hops was supposed to have arrived at our local supplier from Hop Union by January 1, but I am still waiting….I anticipate (tentatively) that Double Sunshine will return in February 2013.

Thank you!!

A big thanks to so many people for everything that you’ve done in 2012! We truly appreciate all of our customers, partners, suppliers, draft and retail accounts, and are thankful for the support that enables us to operate a small brewery and make a living by brewing beer.

We ended the year’s events on a really high note by participating in an event organized by our friends at  Dogfish Head brewery and the Worthy Burger restaurant, called “The Night Before the Night Before…” Proceeds from this worthy event benefitted the Vermont Food Bank through the Vermont Brewer’s Association. Here’s of picture of some of the fun! Cheers!
