Sean did, however, brew a beer he knew you’d go wild over just in time for the holidays! Please enjoy responsibly… at your own Peril! Bottles and draft will be released beginning December 21st. Bottles will be available 12/21 at Warren Store and Hunger Mountain Co-op, and 12/22 at Beverage Warehouse, and 12/26 at Craft Beer Cellar Waterbury. First, a thank you. Our 9th anniversary benefit event on 4/8/17 was such a great celebration, and full of gratitude as well. Karen and Sean Lawson were pleased to donate $8,000 to Lily Stilwell to help retrofit her home for accessibility, and $3,000 to the Mad River Path Association to enhance pedestrian connectivity through Irasville and to extend the boardwalk located off Carroll Road towards the Mad River Green. Lawson’s Finest appreciates all of your continued support over the years, and looks ahead to our bright future! BEER DELIVERIES The week of May 1st we are thrilled to distribute a very special Western beer to Vermont! Lawson’s Finest has a refrigerated shipment coming from Yakima WA with a fresh load of hops, and we decided to make a detour and pick up cases of Melvin…a tasty IPA from our friends at Melvin Brewing in Jackson Hole Wyoming. They are two time Alpha King Champions and also have World Beer Cup & GABF bling to prove it, so grab some while you can as it won’t last long. You will find limited quantities on 5/2 at Village Grocery, Mehuron’s, Craft Beer Cellar Waterbury, 5/4 Warren Store, Hunger Mountain Co-op, 5/5 Beverage Warehouse and 5/8 Woodstock Hops and Barley. Check out our Find Our Beer page for location information.  Starting May 5th, we bring back an all-time fan favorite beer – Double Sunshine IPA (bottles and draft). It’ll be available in bottles 5/5 at Beverage Warehouse, 5/9 at Craft Beer Cellar Waterbury, and 5/11 at Warren Store, Hunger Mountain Co-op. The week of May 22nd will feature a new collaboration beer with our friends at Whetstone Station in Brattleboro VT. This month Sean will be brewing a batch of Maple Tripple, our award winning beer brewed only once per year in the spring with 100% concentrated maple sap. Sean will then blend this batch with last years batch (which aged for a full year) before bottling which lends a rich, complex and distinctly Vermont character to the beer. Possible bottle release this summer – follow the monthly beer news for updates! During this month, you’ll find Sip of Sunshine IPA and Super Session #2 (cans and draft) around the states of Vermont, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Sip of Sunshine IPA – The first packaging run in May features the same quality hops we always use to brew our Sip of Sunshine IPA, however, this batch incorporates a new lot from a different hop farmer. Different lots can have distinct differences in flavor and aroma profile. We are working with our entire hops supply from the 2016 fall harvest to perfect just the right blend of different lots of hops to deliver the most tropical fruit-forward and lupulin-laden experience you expect in every can of Sip! SPECIAL EVENTS May 10 & 11 Lawson’s Finest will make appearances in Massachusetts as a way to thank you for your support! Lawson’s brews news!

Hi All! Here is important skinny on LFL brews for the next two weeks: This week’s beer is our very special once-a-year maple sap beer –2013 Maple Tripple Ale! It takes over a year to produce, is aged in maple liquor barrels, is hand corked and caged, and clocks in at 12% ABV….a labor of love! It is available in very limited quantities at stores and this is the only beer going out for delivery this week, so take note. Suggested retail pricing is $25-$27/500ml bottle, and customers will be limited to one bottle per person.Next weekend 7/18-19 is Vermont Brewers Festival! If you have tickets and want to know more about what is pouring at the fest, visit their website. If you don’t have tickets….sorry, try again next year! In stores on 7/17-18 you will find our Super Session #2 (4.2%) – a single hop session IPA brewed with Amarillo on this batch, and our collaboration with the Vermont Pub and Brewery, Spruce Tip IPA (6.8%)! The Spruce Tip IPA will tentatively also be available in bottles at the VBP.Next up….drum roll please…… Our Sip of Sunshine IPA label has been approved by the TTB! Yeehaw! And SOS 3.0 (that’s batch #3…that I brewed at Two Roadson July 1) will tentatively hit Vermont in 22oz bottles for the Vermont Brewers Festival weekend! Wicked psyched! Each batch will have slight variations in the recipe that you may or may not notice, as I work on getting it exactly the way that I intend. If all goes as planned (and that’s a *big* IF until it is on the truck for delivery to the stores), we hope to debut this beer in 22oz bottles on Saturday July 19th on VT Brewers Fest weekend. It will also continue to be available on draught at our regular accounts in Vermont. We are only producing one batch per month at this time, so for the near term, it will only be available in our current VT accounts. We will post more about our plans for this beer in the next few...

It’s Here – Sip of Sunshine IPA

Posted by on Apr 4, 2014 in collaborations, our beer | Comments Off on It’s Here – Sip of Sunshine IPA

The newest Lawson’s Finest beer is now tap at some of your favorite establishments that serve our beer! Sip of Sunshine IPA! American Double IPA 8% ABV I am very excited by our newest project, which is a partnership with Two Roads Brewing. I traveled to their new brewery to brew up the first batch of this beer on March 17th (St. Patty’s Day to us Irish folk!), which also happens to be the exact date that we sold our very first keg six years ago! I created this beer to be very similar to the Double Sunshine IPA, but slightly different! Our partnership with Two Roads will enable me to brew this beer on a regular basis – they have a beautiful new facility in Stratford, CT and a highly esteemed brewmaster, Phil Markowski, with decades of experience. Most importantly, they have a very soft water source (low mineral content) that almost perfectly mirrors our water source here in Warren, VT. I created the recipe and oversaw the brewing and packaging at their brewery, and will continue to do so in the future. I hope to have this beer on tap all the time at the accounts listed on our website. For now this beer is only on draft in kegs in our local Vermont market, and as I refine the recipe, we will look to packaging in bottles and maybe even cans in future...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! (NOTE – Post revised on 1/19) Yes, I’m a little slow out the gate to get the first post of 2014 up to our blog, nevertheless, I have lots of good tidings and a look a head to what’s new and exciting on the horizon! Scroll to bottom for the list of beers for the next few weeks and our next Farmer’s Market beer list on Feb. 8th First, what a way to start the new year: Thank you Food Republic.com! They named the Double Dose IPA the #1 beer of 2013. With that great news, I can also tell you that Otter Creek Brewing and Lawson’s Finest are planning to team up again to brew the Double Dose IPA in the fall of 2014. Most excellent! What else is ahead for 2014? Here are just a few highlights: Collaborations – yes, please! These projects are one way that our tiny brewery can get some more beer out to the market, by partnering with other breweries that have bigger systems. We are currently planning on several collaborations with our brewing friends here in New England and across the border in Quebec! As soon as details are confirmed, I will post them to our blog. New Beers – Absolutely! This week I brewed the first – Ava IPA – named for the three hops featured in the brew (Apollo, Vanguard, and Amarillo) as well as our oldest daughter Ava. Expect to see a continuous rotation of new IPA’s and single-hop recipes. I am hoping to score some Mosaic hops and this year’s hop contract includes several varieties that are new to our brewery – Galaxy, Comet, Soriachi Ace, Palisade, Glacier and several New Zealand varieties. I’ll be cooking up a big barleywine (Seared Palate perhaps?!) before the cold season is over. I am also working on several new barrel-aged creations, including a rum-barrel stout in partnership with our new hometown Warren distillery – Mad River Distillers. Finally, you asked for….and now it’s coming (summer release) Triple Sunshine IPA! Returning Favorites – With a tiny brewery and just a few fermenters, it’s difficult to make all the varieties of beer that I’d like to, and not even close to all the ones I’ve dreamed up so far! But, we are bringing back some of the fan and brewer favorites for 2014 like Permagrin Rye Pale Ale, Spring Fever Session Ale, Sugarhouse IPA, and Crooked Cabin Brown Ale. Look for the return of our now once-annual Peril Imperial IPA to be released on 4/19. And of course, we’ll have Double Sunshine IPA in our rotation throughout the year…yeah! Events – Our next event is Friday, Feb. 14th, Valentines Day, featuring a Beer Love’s Dinner and Full Moon Snowshoe at Mad River Glen, a fundraiser with all proceeds to benefit the MRG Naturalist Program. Tickets are $30 and include a buffet dinner by Chef Michael Witzel with his famous Beef Stew (featured in Vermont Life magazine!) made with locally sourced ingredients, including LFL Fayston Maple Imperial Stout, along with bread, salad, dessert and a cash bar with three varieties of Lawson’s Finest brews. Enjoy a full moon snowshoe ramble (on your own), and after dinner, Naturalist and Brewer Sean Lawson will present a slide show – “The Nature of Vermont” with images and stories of the wildlife and flora of the Green Mountains in four seasons.Save the date: Lawson’s Finest 6th Anniversary celebration will be held on April 19th, 2014 at the Valley Players Theater in Waitsfield. We’ll have a farmer’s market style bottle sale in the afternoon (with a much more efficient and organized ticketed number system – so please don’t give up if you have...

Bad blogger!

Posted by on Jun 27, 2010 in beer fests, collaborations, our beer | Comments Off on Bad blogger!

OK, you already know the bad news: I’m a bad blogger these days. A blog is only relevant if you update it regulary! Not to mention the ‘bound-fo-fail’ curse of a New Year’s Resolution (to blog more often….) Photo credit: (c) Megan Shultz The good news is I’ve been a busy brewer, which means more people enjoying more Lawson’s Finest ales than ever before! Plus a few very special projects are now in the works that have been taking up a great deal of my time. So here’s a glimpse of few exiting things at Lawson’s Finest. I do indeed hope to get more complete details here in the near future. ON DECK: Summer! Festival Season is here. We poured the Brattleboro Brewers Festival and upcoming are The Vermont Brewer’s Festival (wait till you see the line of LFL brews!) on July 16-17, The VT Cheesemakers Festival at Shelburne Farms (with bottle sales) on July 25, and Ommegang’s “Belgium Comes to Cooperstown” festival on July 30-31. Our barrel-aging project is underway. Holy oaked goodness brewman! More details to follow. Our newest collaboration with Destiny at Zero Gravity Brewing of Flatbread Btown fame is “Local Potion,” a localvore style Vermont maple ale, brewed with barley grown in Maine, 100% VT hops, syrup from Huntington, and a bit of wisdom from Paul Sayler. On top of that, we house-smoked some of the malted barely with Root Beer man and BBQ master Dave Rooke to lend a hint of smokiness to this beer. I’ll have a cask “dry-tipped” with spruce sprigs at the VBFest (session 2) called Noonan’s Tribute. Also, look for it on tap and cask at Flatbread Burlington Hearth starting the week of the festival. A few other new beers are on the way for summer including an easy drinking Session in the Rye saison (4.5%) , a juicy hop forward pale ale called Liquid Sunshine, and the return of Karen’s Kolsh redux for summer. So many good beers to brew and to try. Cheers to you all and thanks for coming back to check us out!...

Quick Update

Posted by on Mar 26, 2010 in beer fests, collaborations, our beer, our events, special events | Comments Off on Quick Update

Hey all, BIG thanks to every one that celebrated our 2nd Anniversary with us (whether you were there in person or not!) Just to let you know, as usual we are working hard to keep the ever-elusive supply of bottles on the shelf at the Warren Store, where it seems to disappear daily.
