April Beer News

We are thrilled to inform you that the Waitsfield Development Review Board has granted our local permits for the new brewery and taproom on Carroll Road. The picture associated with this post is our vision for the new Lawson’s Finest Taproom! Lawson’s Finest honors nine years of brewing by hosting an anniversary celebration on April 8th! All of the details can be found here, and we look forward to sharing amazing beers and having a great time with you while raising money for two great causes! There will be special beer tappenings around the area, including unique casks of Fayston Maple Imperial Stout with tart cherry at The Mad Taco Waitsfield and Sugarbush Castlerock Pub (expected tappings 4/8 11am). The week of April 10th is frothy at the Craft Brewers Conference in Washington DC. Special events featuring Lawson’s Finest include the 4/10 Brewers Association Hill climb where guild reps from all 50 states visit elected officials to discuss policy; 4/12 at Jackpot with a Vermont Tap Takeover; and 4/13 at Churchkey with other notable VT & WY breweries. The week of April 17th debuts Super Session #8 (draft only) in Vermont, Connecticut and Massachusetts. This is a special batch of Super Session using copious amounts of Mosaic hops. Cans are expected this summer! Between now and the summer, Super Session #2 (which features Amarillo hops) will be brewed and packaged in cans and draft. Beginning April 27th, we will release bottles and draft of Kiwi IPA. Brewed with a massive charge of New Zealand grown Nelson Sauvin & Pacific Jade hops, Kiwi Double IPA brings you the terroir of our hop loving friends in the southern hemisphere. Bottles can be found at The Warren Store, Hunger Mountain Co-op, Beverage Warehouse, and Craft Beer Cellar Waterbury. During this month, you’ll find Sip of Sunshine IPA and Super Session #2 cans and draft around the states of Vermont and Connecticut, and Sip of Sunshine IPA cans and draft in Massachusetts. New crop of hops are in! You may have noticed a slight difference recently in the flavor profile of our flagship beer Sip of Sunshine IPA. In early February, we began using our 2016 crop of hops in this beer.  Every year both the quality and character of hops and malts that go into our beers vary, as they are seasonal crops. This variation is one of the biggest challenges in the brew house to create a beer that is consistent batch to batch and year to year. In addition, each year’s crop includes numerous lots of the same variety of hops, each originating from a different farmer or different location. Even individual lots can vary widely in characteristics. We love the fact that we create a living product! However, it makes it hard to present exactly the same beer with every batch. In our sensory analysis, the hop lots that we are currently brewing with present a more earthy and dank character than the last several year’s crops. As a result, the tropical fruitiness in the aroma and flavor are a bit more subdued. With our first brew in April, we are bringing in a new lot of hops and Sean is working to optimize just the right blend of different lots to create the most tropical fruit-forward and lupulin-laden experience that we can deliver! We were humbled to have landed Super Session #2 in the Championship round of the Brewing News National Session IPA competition, and Hopcelot IPA in the Final Four of the National IPA competition! Thank you for all of the support for superb beer! The Vermont Brewers Association celebrates Green Mountain Beer Week from...

Our Ship is about to Blast Off!

Lawson’s Finest Liquids is pleased to announce that we are growing our presence in the Northeast with new territory in Vermont, additional brewing capacity for Connecticut, and by adding the state of Massachusetts to our delivery footprint! Massachusetts Lawson’s Finest is extremely excited to announce that we have chosen Atlantic Beverage Distributors as the proud and capable handlers of our brands. Fans of the highly recognizable bright yellow 16oz Sip of Sunshine cans will be able to get their hands on Lawson’s Finest lupulin-laden liquids every month, with regular deliveries of cans and draft beer beginning January 31st. In future months, Bay State hop lovers will also find Lawson’s Finest Super Session #2, winner of the 2016 National Session IPA Challenge held by Brewing News. This quaffable brew is designed to be light and refreshing with low alcohol, yet the full hop character of an IPA. Sean Lawson, brewer and co-owner of Lawson’s Finest says, “Atlantic has shown us their commitment to keeping our beers cold and getting them to our fans as fresh as possible with their new distribution facility in Holliston and a talented staff.” Vermont Within Vermont, Lawson’s Finest will grow our footprint in the northern part of the state as well as the Upper Valley. “We are stoked to add the legendary ski town of Stowe, and excited by the reception we’ve received from restaurants and retailers” Sean Lawson remarked. Lawson’s Finest will also begin regular deliveries to the White River Junction area soon. Fans of hop forward beers will find Sip of Sunshine IPA and Super Session #2 regularly, as well as special releases of our small batch specialty creations at select locations. Lawson’s Finest Operations Director TJ Greenwood says, “Look for Lawson’s Finest in new locations thanks to the addition of a third truck at the Mad River Food Hub, home to our wholesale distribution company The Beer Guy, LLC.” While the small fleet can’t currently cover the entire state, we are really excited to reach additional towns around Vermont. Furthermore, Lawson’s Finest is poised to break ground this spring on a new Waitsfield, VT location where we will open a 30bbl brewery along with a taproom, retail store, and offices providing a new destination for Lawson’s lovers. Connecticut Starting in February 2017, an expanded supply of cans and kegs of Sip of Sunshine IPA & Super Session #2 will begin rolling out to our wonderful fans in Connecticut. Thanks to our relationship with Two Roads Brewing in Stratford, CT, we brew Lawson’s Finest Sip of Sunshine IPA and Super Session #2 locally and deliver it cold and fresh throughout the state with Hartford Distributors Inc. and Star Distributing. Company Story Lawson’s Finest was founded in 2008 and is an award winning, small batch artisanal brewery located in Warren, Vermont. In 2014, we added an alternating proprietorship at Two Roads Brewing in Stratford, CT where our flagship canned IPA’s are brewed by Lawson’s Finest. Our goal is to provide beers of the highest quality and outstanding freshness, featuring world-class IPA’s and unique maple brews, while emulating the best of widely appreciated styles. Our small batch specialty beers are custom crafted in a 7bbl brewery tucked in the woods, on the east flank of Lincoln Mountain in Vermont. Lawson’s Finest beer can be found on draft, in bottles, and in cans throughout north-central VT, and in cans and kegs across the states of Connecticut and...

January Beer News

Lawson’s Finest is very excited to see what 2017 brings! We’re so grateful that you’re with us on our adventure! Most exciting is the potential purchase of land and buildings that will become our new public brewery and taproom! We still have a ways to go before our anticipated grand opening in 2018, but we’re happy to report that progress is being made. Check out the full original news story here! Due to a break in brewing over the holidays, there will be no specialty bottle releases the week of Jan. 2nd. Beginning Jan 12th, we will have our first special beer of the new year, The Space In Between. From our label, “An ale without definition, blurry and green, with a depth and form unclear, this beer resides in the space in between”. Let your imagination do the rest. Expect this beer to return throughout 2017, each time with a different interpretation. On Jan 13th, join Sean at Mad River Glen ski area for a Naturalist Full Moon snowshoe & brew! Advanced tickets are required and can be purchased here. It’s your opportunity to experience Sean revel about his love of both nature and beer! Starting Jan 26th, fan favorite (and award winner!) Triple Play IPA returns in bottles and draft. UPDATE JAN 19: DUE TO UNFORESEEN DELAYS IN THE BREWERY SCHEDULE, TRIPLE PLAY IPA WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE IN JANUARY. Specialty bottles of The Space In Between can be found at The Warren Store, Beverage Warehouse, and Craft Beer Cellar Waterbury. Get your hands on fresh batches of Sip of Sunshine IPA and Super Session #2 in Vermont and Connecticut all month long! January brings another exciting chapter in collaboration projects with our friends at Mad River Distillers! Sean will be brewing up another double batch of wash (or wort in the brew house) for the next round of Hopscotch. A Vermont single malt whiskey, it is aged for over a year in charred American oak barrels before seeing the light of day. Our first Hopscotch release in November 2016 was wildly successful and didn’t last long, so our patient fans will have to wait until 2018 for the next batch. Sean was recently interviewed by Welcome to Connecticut (W2CT). W2CT states, “Sean Lawson is one of the most well respected brewers in the industry. Some of his creations, such as Sip of Sunshine, are so highly sought after that people will go to great lengths to get their hands on them. Sean sits down with Ken to discuss his history in the beer community, his transition to contract brewing and making his beers available in other states. He also very candidly talks about the issues of price gouging that have run rampant with some of his beers.” Check out the audio recording here! The actual interview begins at minute 11 in the recording. We’re honored that Double Sunshine IPA was named one of the top 22 beers making the final round of judging in this past fall’s Alpha King challenge at the GABF, representing the best of lupin laden ales in the country. In February, fans can look ahead for upcoming batches of Coffee Fayston Maple Imperial Stout and Hopcelot...

Lawson’s Finest wins a Silver medal!

On May 6, 2016 Lawson’s Finest Liquids won a Silver medal in the Specialty Beer category at the World Beer Cup in Philadelphia, PA for their renowned “Maple Tripple Ale.” Brewer Sean Lawson remarked, “This beer is truly a labor of love! It is brewed with concentrated Vermont maple sap replacing water in the brewing process, then it spends a year in oak barrels that previously held Saxton’s River Distillery “Sapling” maple liquor. We package the beer in specialty bottles with a cork and cage finish done completely by hand.” This marks the fourth time Lawson’s Finest has placed Vermont maple on the map for beer lovers with wins at the World Beer Cup in 2010, 2012, and the Great American Beer Fest in 2015. The World Beer Cup is the largest and most prestigious international beer competition in existence. The event is held every two years and is hosted by the Brewers Association. The 2016 event featured over 6,590 different beers from 1,907 breweries in 55 countries competing in 96 categories. Photo © Jason E....

Lawson’s Finest – a new home for the future

Lawson’s Finest – a new home for the future

Here’s news that will thrill beer lovers near and far! Sean and Karen Lawson, proprietors of the award-winning microbrewery Lawson’s Finest Liquids, are in the process of purchasing the warehouse buildings and property located at 155 Carroll Road in Waitsfield, VT with a goal of closing in the spring of 2017. Sean says, “It is our hope that this will become the expanded home of Lawson’s Finest in the Mad River Valley.” The craft beer company plans to open a new larger brewery, a tasting room and offer retail sales. Currently, Lawson’s Finest is based in Warren VT with a 7 barrel brewery (1 U.S. barrel (bbl) = 31 gallons). In the new space in Waitsfield, they anticipate having a 30 bbl brewery. They plan to move their craft beer-making operation from a tiny 280 square-foot building at their home in Warren to the 7,500-square-foot warehouse in Waitsfield, which means more beer as well as adding employees and new equipment. They plan to keep the 7bbl brewery in Warren operational as a pilot location, with the opportunity for more creativity and experimentation. The Lawson’s also plan to continue brewing their Sip of Sunshine IPA and Super Session beers at Two Roads Brewing in CT now and in the future. Sean elaborates, “We’ve hoped from the beginning that our Sip of Sunshine IPA brewed at Two Roads could get to the big Northeast beer markets that are nearby, but people in Vermont and Connecticut are drinking it faster than we can make it!” Create a destination for Lawson’s Finest consumers “One of the things that’s been missing from our business is that due to our residential location, people can’t get to or see the brewery, and taste the beer or meet the brewer; people really want that,” Sean said. The tasting room plans to include a family-friendly space where people can sample a variety of locally produced artisan foods and beverages. The Lawson’s desire to align their project with both the scale and the character of Waitsfield and the surrounding areas of the Mad River Valley. “While this is an exciting first step,” Lawson said,“our plans are contingent upon the completion of the Winter Park Community waste water system, as well as obtaining all of the necessary permits from the Town of Waitsfield and State of Vermont.” If the permitting phase is successful and they complete the purchase, the Lawson’s anticipate renovations and equipment installation will take an additional 6-12 months, with a potential opening in 2018. “We’ve given ourselves two years to get to an opening date. We want to be completely transparent with our community as we go through this process,” Sean said. Since its inception, his beers have captured the fancy of beer lovers near and far, creating a cult-like following. Lawson’s Finest has also captured awards in recent years at the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, and the National IPA Championship, creating heightened interest in their brand. Several factors over the past few years have made them more willing to take the next step in terms of growing the business. They partner with Mad River Food Hub in Waitsfield for local Vermont distribution. “Having warehouse space with both dry and refrigerated storage, trucking capacity, and the distribution facility at the Food Hub have been critical” Sean said. Lawson’s Finest also brews beer under contract at Two Roads Brewery in Stratford, Connecticut, where they produce Sip of Sunshine and Super Session #2. This experience has given them the confidence that they can take on a larger operation and have the ability to move forward with this...

Lawson’s Finest at the Phish Magnaball!

Lawson’s Finest at the Phish Magnaball!

Lawson’s Finest is thrilled and honored to be part of Phish’s 2015 Magnaball from August 21-23! Karen & Sean Lawson have been Phish phans for decades, grooving on their jams at small and large venues alike. We are so proud to partner with our fellow Phish Vermonters at this epic music fest! High on a hill in Warren, Vermont, celebrated brewer and longtime Phishhead Sean Lawson of Lawson’s Finest Liquids crafts unique beers of the highest quality and freshness in carefully tended small batches at his 7bbl artisanal brewery. Focusing on hop-forward IPA’s and signature specialty beers, including the World Beer Cup winning Maple Tripple, Sean and wife Karen produce just a few hundred barrels a year at their Sugarhouse Brewery. Lovers of delectable beer flock to the heart of the Green Mountains to sip his brew and score a bottle or two. Lawson’s own journey as ‘The Beer Guy’ dates back to his earliest homebrewing days at UVM in the late ‘80s while attending Phish shows with as few as 40 people. Lawson’s Finest celebrated its 7th Anniversary in April. In 2014, to honor the longstanding requests to produce “more great beer,” Lawson’s also began brewing and canning beer at Two Roads Brewing in Stratford, CT, enabling many more fans to enjoy their coveted creations. Two brews will be on tap at Magnaball – the juicy, tropical, and lupulin-laden Sip of Sunshine IPA (8.0%), and Super Session #2 ale (4.8%), a beer so tasty and quaffable it will leave you singing. “So toss away stuff you don’t need in the end, but keep what’s important and know which hops to blend.”...

YES WE CAN! First is the introduction of our Sip of Sunshine IPA in 16oz cans! We are super excited to have our first-ever LFL beer in a totally transportable, lightweight and beautiful can package. A big thanks to our artist who designed the eye-catching Sip of Sunshine IPA label – Kerrin Parkinson. You can view her work at kerrinparkinson.com. Next month, we’ll be traveling to Virginia to the Ball Can manufacturing plant to oversee and approve the initial production of cans, and hope that we will have our first Sip of Sunshine IPA in cans by late December. We will keep you posted! LAWSON’S SABBEERICAL To give myself the space to start new creative projects and do some of the necessary things I can’t do within the rigors of a normal work week, I have scheduled what I am calling a “Lawson’s Sabbeerical” for the next few months. During this time I’ll be meeting with other brewers, making improvements to our sugarhouse brewery on the hill, and attending to family matters. The first of these exciting projects is already in the works. As announced at this year’s SIPtemberfest, Lawson’s Finest next beer with brewmaster Mike Gerhart and Otter Creek Brewing will be called “Double or Nothing”! Expect a late winter release of a big, burly, dark beer built to last. Stay tuned for details both through OCB and LFL. Lawson’s Finest be teaming up again with the amazing folks at Tree House Brewing based in Monson, MA to brew the second half of our collaboration. This time we will be doing it up in Warren, VT….“Shhhhhhhhhhh!”….it’s a secret! When we know more, you’ll know more. Lawson’s Finest will also be meeting soon with the creative forces behind New England Brewing Co., to create a test batch of a beer featuring our collective love of hops and regionally wild-crafted ingredients. We plan to release this beer during the first six months of 2015. In addition to giving Lawson’s Finest the opportunity to launch these new ventures properly, the Sabbeerical will also enable us the needed time to properly maintain and enhance our little brewery in Warren. Minor changes to our lighting, storage, compressed air and CO2 delivery systems will make the working environment easier and more efficient. Our most important goals are to make the beer in your glass even more world class….and to create beer in your can that will make you a fan! As you may have heard, my father passed away recently. As a result, I have many new responsibilities that are requiring considerable time that would usually be spent brewing, bottling, and cleaning. To prioritize family commitments while doing all of the above, Lawson’s Finest will take a temporary break from brewing in Warren – but just for a few months. During this time, we will have the Sip of Sunshine IPA available every week on draught and in bottles at the locations listed on our website, but we will not have our rotating weekly variety of beer. Please note also that this winter, we will not be...

What you want to know about Sip of Sunshine IPA!

Posted by on Sep 3, 2014 in our beer | Comments Off on What you want to know about Sip of Sunshine IPA!

What you want to know about Sip of Sunshine IPA!

What’s the story with Sip of Sunshine IPA? This is our new “flagship” beer…something we’ve never had before! That means Sip of Sunshine is a beer that will be available every week, year round. Wow! Thanks to our partnership with Two Roads Brewing, Sean travels each month to their facility in Stratford, CT to brew this beer. It is then packaged into kegs and 16oz cans and distributed through our own wholesale company to the local Vermont market, and through HDI and Star Distributing in Connecticut. Why not anywhere else? The demand for Lawson’s Finest beer is so overwhelming, that even with the additional volume of Sip of Sunshine, we are still not able to fully meet demand in our current territories. We are working hard to secure additional hops and add to our capacity at Two Roads Brewing Co. So what’s the plan? We will continue to brew Sip of Sunshine IPA each month for distribution on draft and in 4 packs of 16oz cans! Yowza! Can you tell…we are excited too. We have discontinued bottling Sip of Sunshine IPA in the 22oz format. You can always find it on tap at our regular VT restaurant and bar locations. For now, we are thrilled to be able to offer you more beer on a regular basis. Our goal is to always have beer available that is no more than 30 days old, to ensure that you receive the hoppy goodness at the ultimate peak of freshness. We appreciate all of our fans who take the time to seek out our beers....

Farmer’s Market Aug. 23 Cancelled

Farmer’s Market Aug. 23 Cancelled

Friends, we are very sorry to inform you that due to a death in the family, we will not be attending the Waitsfield Farmers Market on Saturday August 23rd in Waitsfield. The good news is that we have made special arrangements so that most of the beer destined to the Farmer’s Market will be delivered that same day, Sat. Aug. 23 to the Village Grocery in Waitsfield and the Warren Store! Furthermore, the proceeds from the day’s beer sales will still benefit the Mad River Valley Community Fund. This effort is headed up by Troy Kingsbury at the Village Grocery, where there will still be special events as well as beer tastings and free coffee from Capitol Grounds in the morning. Here’s the full run-down on the week for beer deliveries! A fresh batch of Sip of Sunshine IPA (#4) will arrive this week and will be going out to all of our retail and draft accounts over the course of the week. Please visit the Facebook pages of Warren Store, Hunger Mtn. Coop, and Beverage Warehouse to find out exactly when the bottles will be available. We will not be able to provide these details to you directly. Saturday 8/23 will be a special delivery of all the beer that was bottled for the Farmers Market to Village Grocery and Warren Store. This will include: Super Session IPA #3 (Sorachi Ace), Knockout Blonde Ale, and a fresh round of Sip of Sunshine IPA. Each store will receive many cases and determine the bottle limits. Double Sunshine fans – our fresh batch is not bottled and won’t be a part of this week’s deliveries, sorry. Double Sunshine will be bottled next week for deliveries on Aug. 28 and 29. If you have additional questions, please be patient and hold off on contacting us, as we won’t have the answers for you. There are so many reasons to visit the Mad River Valley this weekend including the Vermont Music Festival, which kicks off on Friday August 22 with camping and events at Kenyon’s field, and a full day of events and free music at the festival on Saturday (there is a parking fee). Please visit the link for more information: www.vtmusicfest.com Thanks for all your understanding and continued support! – Sean and...

Get your Sunshine on August 23rd!

Posted by on Aug 5, 2014 in farmers markets, mad river valley, our beer, our events | Comments Off on Get your Sunshine on August 23rd!

Waitsfield Farmers Market: August 23rd (special event!) Waitsfield is home to one of the best farmers markets around. It’s a great way to spend a day checking out all the amazing local foods and products our community has to offer. The market runs on Saturdays from 9am-1pm and the remaining dates in 2014 that Lawson’s Finest will be there are Aug. 23, Sept. 20, and Oct. 11. On August 23rd, we will be participating in a fundraiser for the Mad River Valley Community Fund (MRVCF) to commemorate the fund’s 25th Anniversary of helping those in need in the Valley. We will be using our usual ticketed system for the Farmer’s Market, however, we are asking for donations at the time of handing out tickets. For the first 240 people that make a donation of $10 or more to the MRVCF, they will receive the following: free coffee and doughnuts while you wait for the ticket hand-out, a Lawson’s Finest 16oz pint glass, LFL Double Sunshine sticker, and more! A few important details! The ticket hand-out location on August 23rd will be at the Village Grocery (VG) at 4348 Main St, Waitsfield, VT 05673 (not the Mad Taco). The VG will be holding a special event all morning long with coffee samples from Capitol Grounds (starting at the crack of dawn!), a beer tasting, and much more. The VG will also be donating 5% of all the day’s proceeds to the MRVCF along with a number of other local businesses! We plan to hand out tickets at several times to serve the early-risers along with the usual time. Our plan is to hand out tickets at the Village Grocery at 6:30am, 7:30am, and 8:15am. The tickets provide you a place in line to purchase beer at the Farmers Market along with a schedule of approximate times. Please consider a donation of $10 or more to the MRVCF and be rewarded with a bunch of goodies! The beer list for the August 23rd market is as follows: Super Session #3 (Sorachi Ace) (4.2%) – $7/22oz limit of 2/pp Double Sunshine IPA (8%) – $9/22oz limit of 4/pp Maple Tripple Ale (12%) – $25/500ml limit of 4/pp Knockout Blonde Ale (5%) – $7/22oz limit of 2/pp We may have one more beer in store for this market…if it is bottled in time, it will be posted prior to the market. How does it work? Pick up your beer ticket/order form at one of the hand-out times. It will have a number on it that corresponds to a time range to visit us at the market to purchase your beer. We will have enough Double Sunshine IPA for all of the numbered tickets. Other beers may sell-out before your number is called. We have a lighted LED sign at our booth that shows the designated number we are currently serving. PLEASE be considerate of the other vendors and patrons at the market. If you have a long wait ahead, we request that do not stand around our booth or occupy the picnic tables for extended periods of times. Please do not block access to the other vendors booths, the number system provides a general time for you to return. Lawson’s brews news!

Lawson’s brews news!

Hi All! Here is important skinny on LFL brews for the next two weeks: This week’s beer is our very special once-a-year maple sap beer –2013 Maple Tripple Ale! It takes over a year to produce, is aged in maple liquor barrels, is hand corked and caged, and clocks in at 12% ABV….a labor of love! It is available in very limited quantities at stores and this is the only beer going out for delivery this week, so take note. Suggested retail pricing is $25-$27/500ml bottle, and customers will be limited to one bottle per person.Next weekend 7/18-19 is Vermont Brewers Festival! If you have tickets and want to know more about what is pouring at the fest, visit their website. If you don’t have tickets….sorry, try again next year! In stores on 7/17-18 you will find our Super Session #2 (4.2%) – a single hop session IPA brewed with Amarillo on this batch, and our collaboration with the Vermont Pub and Brewery, Spruce Tip IPA (6.8%)! The Spruce Tip IPA will tentatively also be available in bottles at the VBP.Next up….drum roll please…… Our Sip of Sunshine IPA label has been approved by the TTB! Yeehaw! And SOS 3.0 (that’s batch #3…that I brewed at Two Roadson July 1) will tentatively hit Vermont in 22oz bottles for the Vermont Brewers Festival weekend! Wicked psyched! Each batch will have slight variations in the recipe that you may or may not notice, as I work on getting it exactly the way that I intend. If all goes as planned (and that’s a *big* IF until it is on the truck for delivery to the stores), we hope to debut this beer in 22oz bottles on Saturday July 19th on VT Brewers Fest weekend. It will also continue to be available on draught at our regular accounts in Vermont. We are only producing one batch per month at this time, so for the near term, it will only be available in our current VT accounts. We will post more about our plans for this beer in the next few...

Please note, if more people line up than we have tickets for, we will begin handing out the tickets at that time. Triple Sunshine is on the way!

Posted by on May 4, 2014 in our beer | Comments Off on Triple Sunshine is on the way!

This past week, I brewed Triple Sunshine IPA! This beer is expected to be about 10.5% ABV and feature the same color and flavor profile as the Double Sunshine IPA….only amped up with even more hop character and a fuller body. Expect it to be dangerously drinkable and available in limited quantities in bottles. It will be released at our first outdoor Farmer’s Market of the season in Waitsfield, VT on Saturday, May 24th from 9am to 1pm. We will also be saving a few kegs of Triple Sunshine IPA to serve at all three sessions of the Vermont Brewers Festival on July 18-19th. VBF tickets go on sale May 15th. We are tentatively planning to hand out numbered tickets for all bottle sales for the 5/24 market starting at 8am at the Mad Taco in Waitsfield – where they will be throwing the doors open early for breakfast and a special cask tapping of Triple Sunshine IPA…woah! Starting at 9am, tickets will be handed out at the market, not the Mad Taco. After the market, we highly recommend that beer fans head to Waterbury, VT where you will find special afternoon events to celebrate the Hill Farmstead Brewery’s 4th Anniversary! Look for more information, bottle limits and prices for the 5/24 Farmer’s Market to be posted here on the blog a week prior to the event. Cheers! The massive hop charged used to brew Triple Sunshine...

It’s Here – Sip of Sunshine IPA

Posted by on Apr 4, 2014 in collaborations, our beer | Comments Off on It’s Here – Sip of Sunshine IPA

The newest Lawson’s Finest beer is now tap at some of your favorite establishments that serve our beer! Sip of Sunshine IPA! American Double IPA 8% ABV I am very excited by our newest project, which is a partnership with Two Roads Brewing. I traveled to their new brewery to brew up the first batch of this beer on March 17th (St. Patty’s Day to us Irish folk!), which also happens to be the exact date that we sold our very first keg six years ago! I created this beer to be very similar to the Double Sunshine IPA, but slightly different! Our partnership with Two Roads will enable me to brew this beer on a regular basis – they have a beautiful new facility in Stratford, CT and a highly esteemed brewmaster, Phil Markowski, with decades of experience. Most importantly, they have a very soft water source (low mineral content) that almost perfectly mirrors our water source here in Warren, VT. I created the recipe and oversaw the brewing and packaging at their brewery, and will continue to do so in the future. I hope to have this beer on tap all the time at the accounts listed on our website. For now this beer is only on draft in kegs in our local Vermont market, and as I refine the recipe, we will look to packaging in bottles and maybe even cans in future...

Montpelier Farmer’s Market – Sat. March 15

The next Montpelier Farmer’s Market on March 15th from 10am to 2pm will have a VERY LIMITED selection of beer. We do not recommend driving from hours away only for this event. We anticipate the following beers and limits. Please see detailed instructions below. Double Sunshine IPA (8.0%/22oz) – 2 bottle limit/person Sticky Ale (bourbon barrel-aged Maple Nipple; 9%/375ml) – 2 bottle limit/person Fayston Maple Imperial Stout (10%/750ml) – 1 bottle limit/person IMPORTANT INFO FOR FARMERS MARKET Early arrivals (before 10am) – PLEASE do not park in front of the VT College Gym or the lot adjacent to the building. These areas are essential to vendors loading/unloading for the market. We will have a deli-style number system in place and will begin handing out numbered tickets at 8:00am near the entrance to the VT College Gym. These numbers will be on an order form with the list of beers and bottle limits so that you can have your order ready (please fill out the form). There is a schedule on the reverse side with the approximate time window to visit our table. We have a lighted LED number sign that is visible from a distance with the current number being served. If you miss your number, you may present it anytime after the current customers at the table are served. Plan to wait at least 1-2 hours after collecting your number before your turn arrives. Plan to shop at the other vendors who will be offering an amazing selection of farm fresh foods, meats, and cheeses, crafts, holiday gifts, maple syrup, and much more! If you arrive before the market opens, please visit downtown Montpelier after you pick up your number. You may not wait at or near our table. The winter indoor market has a limited amount of space, and unless you are actively shopping at other vendors or enjoying some of the prepared foods and beverages at the tables in the gym, then you are blocking other customer’s access to vendors at the market. Beer sales begin at 10am. We do not offer any merchandise (glassware, t-shirts, etct) at the Farmer’s Market. Lawson’s Finest does not accept credit cards. Cash or local check only. Thank...
